![]() ![]() With a passenger on board the RadRunner does need a bit of help on steep inclines, but it on normal road hills and the flat it’s almost entirely unfazed by the extra load. Ella says it’s “really fun” on the back of the RadRunner though she’d like some sort of handlebar rather than having to hold on to the rider. The RadRunner’s principal passenger has been Ella, my partner’s 15-year-old, with her mum or older sister at the helm. ![]() That’s spot-on for general riding, but if you go past the assist’s cut-off speed on a descent you find your legs flailing around if you try and keep up with the bike over about 20mph. You get one ratio, 48 x 16, yielding a gear of about 68 inches with those fat tyres. There’s no gear shifting to worry about on the RadRunner. Nobody likes an oil mark on their trouser cuffs. A €99 option gets you an LCD screen that better separates assist mode and battery level displays and shows speed and power levels as well.Įveryone who used the RadRunner wished for a bit more protection from the chain than the minimal chainring guard fitted. One tester said that having two adjacent banks of LEDs to indicate charge and assist level was a bit confusing. If you plan to transport the RadRunner by car you’ll need a sturdy rack to handle its heft (over 30kg with accessories) and – if your rack manufacturer offers them – extra long straps to go round the tyres. That suggests 55 miles is just about doable using only the lowest level of assist and on entirely flat roads. More judicious use of the assist at levels 2, 3 and 4 (sparingly) gave a range of over 35 miles with one LED of five still lit to indicate remaining charge. The RadRunner served excellently as a commuting bike and runaround for my partner’s eldest who got about 25 miles out of it on full assist before managing to strand herself in town and phone home pleading to be rescued. The bottle cage bosses are positioned below the downtube, which isn't as easy to reach while riding.Claimed range is 55-88km (34-55 miles) which is about right if you’re between sensible and very careful with the level of power assist. Only available in one size and one color (consider the RadCity Step-Thru for two colors). ![]() Great fenders, kickstand, pedals, and suspension fork with lockout and preload adjust New twist-throttle hardware looks good, still overrides any level of assist with full power, and is said to be less confusing and more reliable than before. The bike is extremely quiet and the motor is known for being durable and offering some regeneration as you coast and brake, which saves brake pads and slightly extends range. High-resolution cadence sensor responds very quickly to pedal movement but the motor ramps up very smoothly, it doesn't feel jerky or unexpected. An alloy chain guide protects your right pant leg while pedaling and reduces the chance of chain drops The saddle drops down quite far without colliding with the rear rack, the high-step frame is lighter and stiffer than the step-thru, and it offers better weight distribution. Sturdy adjustable angle stem and long 350mm seat post improves fit for a wide range of rider sizes. The headlight offers a bright 80 lumen center beam and a unique LED circle to keep you seen, while the rear light offers solid, flashing, and bright mode when the brakes are activated A feature-complete, comfort oriented, hybrid electric bike with regenerative braking, built-in USB charging port below the display, modular battery pack that works with all other Rad models, and integrated lights. ![]()

The format of the launch option is: uplay://launch/ /0. Once AC Origins installed, I updated one of my Ubisoft Connect Non-Steam game shortcuts with the AC Origins name and added a run option to open the game via Ubisoft Connect. The main difference is the Steam Deck installation should go into the same z:home\home\deck\Games\Ubisoft Game Launcher\ folder. Once Ubisoft Connect did load, I was able to initiate the download of Assassin’s Creed Origins like I did on my PC already. Setting up Ubisoft Connect Plus Version of AC Origins AC Origin Runs Well On Deck After recent updates, the load time is much faster. It took a few minutes before everything loaded up and my Plus membership was the last thing, of course. I then opened Ubisoft Connect via the Non-Steam game shortcut I created. When I finally reached that milestone, I switched back to Steam Deck game mode (there’s a desktop icon shortcut for that). ![]() I ended up creating a 2nd duplicate Non-Steam game shortcut to setup my AC Origins shortcut later. At one point one of the Proton GE options was the only thing that worked for me. The default “Proton Experimental” is working great for me, but there are other options on that menu to try. Getting to Properties Forcing the Compatibility Mode ![]() The Properties of that new “Non-Steam game” entry include a “Force Compatibility Mode” that must be checked. Once Ubisoft Connect installed in that Steam Deck game mode directory, I use the Steam option to Add a Non-Steam game to point to the exe: z:home\home\deck\Games\Ubisoft Game Launcher\UbisoftConnect.exe. If Ubisoft Connect does not play nice installing directly in desktop mode, then some people have success adding the installation file as a Non-Steam game like I do below for the Ubisoft Connect EXE file. Installation from there was standard fair, but the “proper” way is to install into the Steam Deck game mode directory: z:home\home\deck\Games\. Finally Installing Ubisoft Connect on Steam Deck Hopefully, the popularity of the Steam Deck changes that, but I overcame that by just downloading from Digital Trends. The website didn’t want me to download the client due since I was on a Linux PC. With familiar PC controls in place, I opened up the Ubisoft Connect website to download the client, but hit a snag. That’s great, but the next issue to overcome is where is the keyboard? Another online search revealed a press of the Steam Button + X opens and closes the keyboard. The left touch pad click serves as right click. Once in desktop mode, the right touch pad is a suitable mouse with the click serving as left mouse button. Turns out, holding the power button displays the necessary menu option to open desktop mode. In order to even start that process, I had to search on how to get to desktop mode. Getting Started with Ubisoft Connect on Steam Deckįirst step was downloading the Ubisoft Connect client. There were plenty of those extra steps, but now it’s fairly simple to setup the next game. With that value proposition and the length of Assassin’s Creed games, it’s worth some extra steps to get Ubisoft Connect up and running on my Steam Deck. ![]() If it takes less than 6 months to get through the AC Origins content, I’ve already saved money. Even now, the full game is $60 and the season pass is $40. For the $15 per month I pay now, I have access to all Ubisoft games and all DLC. It’s easy enough to buy a game on Steam, but my Ubisoft Connect Plus subscription less expensive in the long run. Controller profiles and graphic settings are also usually sorted out automatically, especially for those in “Verified” status. The verification status of the game is clear with any caveats listed for those not at “Verified” status (like hard to read text or launcher required). With the Steam Deck, it’s easier to buy the game on Steam. Setting up Ubisoft Connect on Steam Deck Ubisoft Connect on Steam Deck I’m happy to report I figured it out and now I’ve fully unlocked the power of my Ubisoft subscription games. Sure I could buy AC Origins on Steam and have a mostly frictionless experience, but I wanted to figure out the whole Ubisoft Connect Plus on Steam Deck thing. After finishing up God of War on Steam Deck, I wanted to setup AC Origin via Ubisoft Connect on my Steam Deck. ![]() ![]() ![]()

How many cages did we build in our organisations? How many wings have clipped of our people, impeding them to dare for something bigger? Whatever stance we take on organisation design and the meaning we give to Work, the idea of enabling freedom also in the workplace is a must to be able to unleash human potential. ![]() And we know how much of personal endeavours can often make us resemble living in self-built a cage.įrom an organisation perspective, there’s something more. There’s no indication here about the origins of the cage of the bird. This poetry is a true invite to value freedom as a necessary step for human expression. A free Bird dares to claim the sky, showing how important liberty can be in also achieving the most difficult goals. The first season, narrated by a villain aware of the fact that they are all in a television show, was meta to the max the second, which starts in a dark, dreary place, as characters reckon with responsibility, forgiveness and a new threat close to home, is for the moment more straightforward, but no less original.įox News host Laura Ingraham coined the demeaning phrase when she went after LeBron James for his comments about President Trump. (Failure is a theme.) The comic book on which the series is based debuted in 1963 - in advance of its conceptual twin, Marvel’s “X-Men” - and though generally set in the present day, the series is much more engaged with 20th century referents (and, this season, 19th) than 21st. A motley crew of ageless mutants shelter under the wing - not an actual wing, it might be necessary to point out - of sad scientist Timothy Dalton, more concerned with sorting themselves out than saving a world barely conscious of their existence. In a situation almost appropriate to its traumatized characters, “Doom Patrol” - comic, tragic, parodic, celebratory and wonderfully offbeat even for a genre in which anything can happen - has been hiding out on the niche streamer DC Universe its second season, which begins this week, brings it into the brighter light of HBO Max. But on TV, where storytelling matters more than action and feeling more than effects, they continue to thrive (and even, with “Watchmen,” enter the national conversation). Superheroes have turned the movies to mush, or perhaps it’s the other way around. ![]() |
